  • パネリスト Mr. Thorsten Herbert Director Market Development and Public Affairs Nel ASA

  • パネリスト Ms. Nobuko UETAKE Executive Officer, Asahi Kasei Corporation Asahi Kasei is developing an alkaline water electrolysis system by utilizing the technology and experience in the chlor-Alkali electrolysis business cultivated over nearly 50 years. With the support of NEDO, a 10MW electrolyzer was installed in Fukushima Prefecture in 2020 and has started operation. In 2021, it was adopted as a NEDO Green Innovation Fund project, and will work on large-scale alkaline water electrolysis system development and green chemical plant demonstration. By developing and commercializing a large-scale alkaline water electrolysis system that can follow fluctuating power input, we will contribute to the realization of a hydrogen society and decarbonization.

  • パネリスト Mr. Tim Calver Commercial Director, ITM Power Having earned an MA in Materials Sciences at the University of Cambridge, Tim Calver began his career in the power industry, working on large-scale energy storage and getting involved in financial analysis, economic modelling, market design and regulation. From there, he spent almost a decade with RWE npower, where he rose through the ranks to hold a number of senior roles in commercial strategy, energy project development, asset optimisation and business transformation. After 2 years in Germany at RWE Generation SE, where Tim led corporate and business development for a 50GW energy portfolio across German, UK and Dutch markets he joined EY, where he became an Associate Partner. In this role, he worked with a wide range of energy and utility companies, focusing on decarbonisation and leading EY’s UK Hydrogen Consulting Team. Tim joined ITM Power as Commercial Director in September 2022.

  • パネリスト Mr. Nikolaus BOLTZE Country Representative for Japan, thyssenkrupp The potential of hydrogen plays a significant role at thyssenkrupp as we are in an extraordinary position as both consumer and producer of green hydrogen. It is the pivotal technology for making our (steel) industry both sustainable and fit for the future. In the production of hydrogen we have already sucsesfully installed more than 600 projects with a total rating of over 10 GW (gigawatts). On the consumer side we will construct Germany's largest direct reduction plant by 2026 with a capacity of 2.5 mn metric tons of low CO2 premium steel.

Theme2 : 産業利用(製鉄、熱利用、化学)

  • パネリスト Mr. Masahiro MOTOYUKI Executive Officer, Kobe Steel, Ltd. / Chairman of the board, Midrex Technologies, Inc. Steel industry accounts for approx. 8% of the global CO2 emissions. KOBELCO Group contributes to CO2 emissions reduction with variety of its technlogies and products. MIDREXR Process is one of the key technology which provides solutions to reduce CO2 in the steel industry by utilizing hydrogen as the reducing agent.

  • パネリスト Mr. Daisuke MIYAUCHI President and CEO, MIURA CO., LTD. For decarbonization of indsutry, decarnoization of heat is necessary. Especially, steam is an important heat medium in various industry, and fuel consumption and CO2 emission from steam boiler is considerable (approximately 4% of total direct CO2 emission of Japan). In the presentation, decarbonization pathway of heat is discussed, and hydrogen will play an important role as middle- and high-temperature heat demand (such as steam demand) requires combustion. Miura commercialized the first model in 2017 and has been in further development of hydrogen-fueled boiler, being part of important hydrogen projects in Japan. We keep working to achieve the balance of sustainablity and economy of hydrogen energy on the utilization side.

  • パネリスト Mr. Klaus Meder President with responsibility for Japan, Bosch Corporation

  • パネリスト Mr. Paul Bogers Vice President - Hydrogen, Shell plc He will mainly speak about the role of hydrogen in getting to net zero and Shell’s capabilities and strategies to succeed in the hydrogen business. He will describe how Shell is developing and integrating technologies of the hydrogen value chain with the focus on hydrogen for Industry. Also, he will explain how Shell aims to serve big industrial clusters to help decarbonise their businesses. Shell gets started by serving its own anchor demand in e.g. refineries, expanding to local hub demand close to the supply and finally connecting to large industry hubs when the infrastructure becomes available. Also, he will touch upon how Shell collaborate with various stakeholders and provide regulatory supports/incentives and Shell’s hydrogen policy positions.
